The July/August 2008 issue of Elle Decor published this article by Vicky Lowry about the artist Isca Greenfield-Sanders. It was love at first sight!  "Yellow Suit Diver" currently resides in the Family Room and it is a favorite of every visitor. Of course, I want more! "Flim Edge" and "Parachute Class" are just two more  of my favorite works from an artist whose catalogue is varied and mesmerizing.

Thank you, Roger!

Roger Neiman, makes words count. Roger posted a sign at Bonny's store, Great House by Bonny Neiman, it read... "2014- Lets throw it away together.- Rog". Simple, attainable.  Lets go.

Following the tank pull work started in earnest. We had dated, failing and no longer functional layouts, systems and finishes to update. A bath really might kill you, the locations of the original sockets in the bathrooms are very close to water, one instance actually in a shower and no they were not designed for wet areas (the baths while not redone we did have the deadly sockets rectified). We were lucky that the house was solid and had been maintained. I wont have you suffer through horror stories of construction because we did not have them.  What we did have were plans with a lot of thought that were respectful to the house and to how we live. We had design ideas we were confident in and were able to execute. Most importantly really talented people. Brent and Deb of Orchard Hills Design & Construction. Slavo, our foreman.  Every sub contractor was superlative. This was pleasure from the first day of demolition on (and we lived in the house, my sincere apologies to everyone). For a week after everyone moved on to the next project I would stare forlornly out the kitchen window hoping for someone to arrive. A lot was accomplished but, more still needs doing. This is round one.

Nothing was added, a lot was taken away; 38 radiators and covers and 32 sconces. Water lines that had been hanging below the ceiling were repaired and recessed, re framing, and installing formerly non existent central heat and air systems so beautifully you would think the systems had been here from the day the house was built. BRILLIANT!

I will miss the awkward comments made by everyone about my leaking, algae covered corrugated plastic roofed side porch. It is ok..It is gone. The porch that remains is actually lovely and has lots of potential.

There is still a lot to do. Raphael, the Master of the House and Keeper of the Greens has made a lot of progress from where he started. And in the spring I will show you the fruits of his labors.

Ralph  is hoping to graduate to the adult size chain saw soon.

The paint had just dried. "The Dude" arrived.
